Awardees having a regular employment will receive a cash award of Rs.1,00,000/- every year during the course of the project in addition to the equipment and other recurring grants except the fellowship amount.
This is a career oriented scheme to identify and nurture outstanding young scientists with innovative ideas who wish to pursue research in frontier areas of biotechnology. Young scientists below the age of 35 years are considered for this award. Scientists without regular employment are also eligible for this award.

Global Research Initiative Program (GRIP) for New Foreign Investigators by NIH
Global Research Initiative Program or GRIP as it is called is a fund instituted by NIH. GRIP focuses on Basic/Biomedical Sciences and in Behavioral/Social Sciences
The GRIP promotes productive development of foreign investigators from low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), defined by World Bank Country Classifications, trained in the U.S. or in their home countries through an eligible NIH funded research or research training grant or award.
The goal of this initiative is to provide funding opportunities upon return home for the increasing pool of foreign biomedical and behavioral scientists, clinical investigators, nurses, and other health professionals with state-of-the-art knowledge of research methods to advance critical issues in global health when they return home. Upon completion of their research experiences using this grant mechanism, developing country participants are expected to continue to pursue independent and productive careers, including expert training and consultation and/or research of biomedical issues within their home institutions.
